An RSI Understanding Risk method

Pathway mapping

Pathway mapping is one of the methods used by Risk Sciences International to better understand risk.

Broadly

Pathway mapping traces how a stressor moves from source to outcome—through physical, biological, or behavioral routes. It can apply to chemicals, diseases, or misinformation. The method helps clarify where interventions may be most effective. It requires interdisciplinary input and careful documentation to avoid oversimplification or misrepresentation.

More specifically

RSI uses pathway mapping to support both qualitative and quantitative risk assessments. Whether mapping chemical exposure, behavioral change, or regulatory influence, RSI constructs clear, defensible diagrams and narratives. These help clients visualize risk processes and identify leverage points for mitigation or monitoring.
