Monique MacDonald is a seasoned Office Administrator with over thirty-five years of experience ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of office environments. She joined Risk Sciences International (RSI) in 2017, where she oversees the full range of internal operations and provides essential support across RSI’s scientific, operational, and client engagement activities. Her responsibilities include bookkeeping, financial support such as budgeting, invoicing, and expense tracking, as well as sales and marketing support. She also serves as operational and logistics coordinator for RSI’s convening events, including training sessions, workshops, and meetings.

Monique coordinates with external stakeholders, manages contractors and suppliers, and maintains the firm’s systems, subscriptions, licenses, and records. She supports RSI senior management and staff with data processing, document preparation, and research coordination. Known for her organizational skills, attention to detail, and proactive approach, Monique consistently fosters a productive workplace and supports cross-functional teams with reliability and professionalism.

In addition, Monique serves as RSI’s Alternate Company Security Officer under the Canadian government’s contracting security program, helping to maintain compliance and safeguard sensitive project environments.

Pre-RSI

Born and raised in Ottawa, Monique earned a college diploma in Business Administration and Accounting before beginning her career as an accounting clerk with an aerial surveying company. She soon advanced to Office Manager of the firm’s Calgary satellite office. Returning to Ottawa, Monique spent 16 years as Senior Office and Financial Administrator at Fertilizer Canada, a prominent industry association, where she oversaw the full spectrum of administrative, bookkeeping, and executive support activities for the national membership-based organization.

She also served as Senior Administrator for the Fertilizer Safety and Security Council, a steering committee providing strategic direction, guidance, and advocacy for the manufacturing, wholesale, and retail sectors of the fertilizer industry. In this role, she played a significant part in the development and rollout of the Ammonia Code of Practice, a key initiative aimed at enhancing safety and security protocols within the industry.

Outside RSI

In her leisure time, Monique enjoys tending to her garden and exploring the natural beauty of the numerous green spaces in the Ottawa region. She is an avid hiker, frequently venturing along scenic trails locally and beyond.

Monique is also an enthusiastic genealogist, with more than two decades of experience uncovering family histories and tracing ancestral roots. She has helped numerous individuals and families discover their heritage through meticulous research, historical records, and DNA analysis. A passionate explorer of the past, Monique enjoys delving into history through books, documentaries, and films, with a particular interest in European dynasties, political intrigue, and the cultural evolution that shaped the continent.

She has been actively engaged with local and regional community organizations, serving on the executive boards of several associations, and continues to support local social action groups and committees.
