Finland reaches peak

As much attention focusses on the more visible regions of the world, other less travelled ones continue to be hit by this pandemic, almost two years in. One such country is Finland where the country reached an all time peak in daily infections since the pandemic began. Yesterday, the number of new confirmed cases rose to 1400 infections or 110 infections per 100K people. There have been 172,373 infections and 1,063 coronavirus-related deaths reported in the country since the pandemic began.

Risk Sciences International 1To its credit, Finland has been diligent in its vaccination efforts. Finland has administered at least 8,226,816 doses of COVID vaccines so far. Assuming every person needs 2 doses, that’s enough to have vaccinated about 74.5% of the country’s population.

Fortunately, there is also good news and the number of daily deaths from Covid in Finland has dropped to one of the lowest points in the pandemic.
