In mid-October 2025, Vietnamese and Canadian experts convened in Đà Nẵng to exchange approaches for strengthening food safety through risk science. The workshop brought together officials from Vietnam’s ministries and the Vietnam Food Safety Risk Assessment Center (VFSA), alongside the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA), under the umbrella of the SAFEGRO project—an initiative funded by the Government of Canada and described at https://safegroproject.com/en/home/.
Risk Sciences International (RSI) participated through its CEO, Greg Paoli, who joined discussions on integrating risk assessment, management, and communication to prevent foodborne illness. The workshop reflected Vietnam’s growing commitment to prevention-oriented, evidence-based food safety governance.
Further information about the event and its outcomes can be found on the SAFEGRO website: Building a Food Safety Culture: How Vietnam Is Learning to Think in Terms of Risk.
