Engineers Canada has retained Risk Sciences International’s (RSI) Climate Group to develop training course modules and to deliver on-line training to Professional Engineers seeking to achieve their Infrastructure Resilience Professional (IRP) certification.

Recognizing that not all candidates seeking their IRP can attend workshops and courses by travel to in-person training events, Engineers Canada has established an on-line series of training courses to allow Professional Engineers the option of training for the IRP with the convenience of attending classes from their desktop. Training will be delivered by experienced professionals in climate science and climate vulnerability assessment. Training will be delivered by climate scientists from RSI, and professional engineers from RSI and Nodelcorp Consulting.

The online training series for IRP is one of several training courses/workshops required for Engineers Canada’s Infrastructure Resilience Professional (IRP) certification program available to Professional Engineers. IRP courses include quizzes and testing to confirm participants’ learning outcomes for certification purposes. It is also offered as Continuing Professional Development at a lower cost for those engineers who do not want to pursue the IRP designation or to other professionals who are not eligible to participate in the IRP program, but wish to become familiar with Engineers Canada’s PIEVC Protocol (EC’s Climate Vulnerability Assessment framework developed for critical public infrastructure assets). The workshop will be of interest to engineers and other professionals who are involved in policy, planning, procurement, pre-design, design, operation, maintenance, management and regulation of infrastructure and who, now and in the future, need to consider the changing climate for these activities.

This workshop consists of four (4) two-hour modules delivered through an on-line video-enabled webinar platform. Presentations and exercises will illustrate real life applications through hands-on, small group exercises using a case study approach that will include developing strategies and recommendations to address the identified climate vulnerabilities.
