Using data from the US Centers for Disease Control (CDC) Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System, RSI investigators collaborated on a study showing increased risks of myopericarditis – an inflammatory condition of the heart muscle – following mRNA COVID19 vaccination, with the highest risks seen in young males following a second vaccine dose.  Similar findings have been reported by other investigators working with CDC health scientists.  RSI investigators noted that the risk of myopericarditis is appreciably higher in individuals with COVID 19 than the risk associated with vaccination.
