Registration form for the Canadian Recipient Hemovigilance System Renewal Consensus Conference to be held both in Toronto and online via MS Teams on 23/24 March 2026.
Overview:
The Canadian Recipient Hemovigilance System renewal process seeks to design a renewed, effective, and sustainable national system that enables Canada to better detect, analyse, and learn from transfusion-related events. Facilitated by Risk Sciences International in collaboration with Canadian Blood Services, Héma-Québec, Health Canada, and the Public Health Agency of Canada, the process also actively engages a broad community of professional and institutional partners, including transfusion medicine specialists, clinicians, nurses, medical laboratory professionals, data managers, health-system administrators, public health authorities, and patient safety advocates. The renewal process will also be informed by international hemovigilance stakeholders whose experience and best practices contribute to global learning. Together, these contributors aim to strengthen patient safety by improving the quality, consistency, and timeliness of hemovigilance data, and by fostering shared stewardship across all jurisdictions. Through a structured sequence of Consultation Conversations, a White Discussion Paper, a national Consensus Conference, and a subsequent White Recommendations Paper, this initiative will generate evidence-informed proposals to guide the future governance, operations, and integration of Canada’s recipient hemovigilance system.
