Professional Experience

He has more than 30 years of experience in the public service dealing with environmental and public health related issues.

Dr. Raizenne has worked in various organizations of the federal health portfolio of Health Canada, as a researcher/scientist and a manager of science programs. Dr. Raizenne was the Director General for the Centre for Food-borne, Environmental and Zoonotic Infectious Diseases (CFEZID), in the Public Health Agency of Canada. With Health Canada, Dr. Raizenne’s research focused on the importance of the environmental contaminants, specifically air quality, on human health.

Mark Raizenne has over 15 years of experience managing and directing research programs. During his career as a public servant, Dr. Raizenne has served as the Division Chief for the Air Health Effects Division, Executive Director for the Office of Sustainable Development, the Associate Director General for the Safe Environments Program and Director of Environmental Influences on Health with the Canadian Institutes of Health Research.

Dr. Mark Raizenne holds a BA in Psychology, BSc. Kinanthropology, University of Ottawa, MSc. in Environmental Health (1996) and a DSc. in Epidemiology and Environmental Health (2001) from the Harvard School of Public Health, Harvard University. He has over 30 peer reviewed scientific publications.
